Paul was very dear to me when we worked together at Olinde's, for years.   We shared a birthday...discovered we were exactly 30 years apart likely to the hour.  He was a generous man who made me laugh, made us all laugh with his antics.  I am deeply saddened by his loss and will say many prayers for sweet Sadie.  They were such an incredible example of marriage for us all.  Prayers to the entire family.   Paul was truly a special person to me whom will never be forgotten.  Rest in splendid peace dear old friend...and don't give everybody too hard of a time up there if the tags are missing!  Love and sincerest condolences to Sadie, Trey and the rest of his family.

I had met Paul and the entire Fife family while I was dating Rana, Mrs. Barbara’s and Mr. Lawrence’s daughter, in college at LSU.  It was during that time that I learned about the Guerin-Fife Christmas party, and what was required of the family members (or in my case, potential family members): the mandatory participation in a skit of the new (potential) family member’s choosing. 

Knowing that refusal to participate in this spectacle could be grounds for denial of acceptance into the family in the future (or at the very least starting off on the wrong foot), I decided  I would need to come up with something. Of course, I waited until we arrived at the party to start brainstorming. 

It was Paul, with the help of his brother Phillip, who convinced me that I should dress up in tights and a dress and perform a short ballet. Being the dufus I was at the time, I said, “Uh, Ok.” But, Paul being Paul, said he would dance with me, and managed to convince Phillip to do so too.

It was an absolute debacle...Muscles were pulled, backs were thrown out, people were wetting themselves laughing . But it was Paul (with his wig and dress) who stole the spotlight. He put on a ballet performance for the ages, with 0 (zero) amount of grace, and not a care in the world. His pirouettes nearly landed him in Mr. Lawrence’s tv armoire, his high kicks I’m sure were close to a few faces, and I know we ran into each other at least twice.  But it was his kindness and willingness to  help a goofy college student absorb the embarrassment of a family Christmas ballet skit thrown together at the last minute that will remain with me forever. Thank you, Paul... I will miss you.  May God Bless your soul.

What a great and pleasant man to be around in the company of his presence! I’ve enjoyed the few times of being around him! He always made me laugh and always had some great stories and always seem to take an interest in everything that was going on around him! Prayers to the family I know he was a great father and Husband by the way he carried himself and the way he spoke! May God truly bless you and your family!

I grew up with Bonnie Fife and spent many nights as a young girl at Mrs. Sadie's and Mr. Paul's. I always felt welcome and years later, I stumbled across Paige and we have been joined at the hip ever since. I got to be around both parents again and Mr. Paul was always so friendly. In fact, he looked at me and laughed and said, "Girl, you can't afford shoe laces?" It was actually the style and he knew it. He was just joking around.  He was very easy to talk to and was a good entertainer. My heart goes out to Mrs. Sadie, all his children and grandchildren.   I know he will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him!! 

Not just my father-in-law but another father...

Proud and stern and direct... when he was in your corner... you knew it and he made it known. 
He went above and beyond to help us in any way he could. 
Many times helping us when we didn't even realize we needed it. 

To share a story with him that I will never forget...

We had a fantasy football league that we played for years that we called the FPFL (Fife-PeQueen Football League) with 3 generations playing... Paul Fife and James PeQueen (Bonnie's dad and my dad) and most of their children on both sides and some grandchildren as well. 

As competition goes, there can be... 'contentions'... and at one point he had gotten into a 'contention' ... 😜 ... with a member of my family... 

He felt that I was particularly offended or personally hurt when this happened... my silence was out of understanding that it was no big deal, that my family sees that as part of competition and perfectly acceptable and I should have communicated that better but I didn't know he felt bad about it ... I could never feel that way toward him about something like this but he wanted to be sure that he and I were 'good'. 

I got a hand written letter from him delivered snail mail explaining that he loved me and he in no way meant to disrespect me or my family... 

Paul Fife, the one that I knew, doesn't just write letters like that for anybody. 

I always knew he loved and respected me but had I not realized it before then, I damn sure knew it at that point. 

I am going to miss him dearly. 

My heart goes out, first and foremost, to Sadie Fife... Bonnie's mother... then to Bonnie and her brothers and sister, Carl, Trey, and Paige... 

My pawpaw...
It’s a struggle even typing this because I don’t think it has completely set in yet that you’re gone. I guess I never thought about what it would be like when you would no longer be here. You were one of the strongest people I ever knew. You were the head of the family and the life of the party at any family gathering. 

I can’t even begin to imagine how MawMaw must feel right now with you gone, but I think she’s stronger than you think. Everyone who knew you knew what a devoted husband you were to her. Your kids that deeply love and respect you saw it and every single one of your 14 grandkids that adore you saw it. 

I know we all had our special moments with you and now they will be cherished memories. I don’t even know how to start sharing all the memories with you and how much of a family man you were....  I know we will all miss how you would take credit for mawmaws cooking. I miss the way you were so passionate about passing on knowledge and your stories. I remember always telling you that you should’ve been a history teacher- you truly missed your calling. I miss nights we would watch western movies with icecream after dinner. I will miss the mornings waking up with my cousins on your back patio and you whipping up your famous breakfast burritos! I’ll think of you every time I wear jeans with holes in them (I think all my sisters and cousins will do the same haha).

You’re now free of pain and in a place that is more amazing than the best possible day here on Earth. I hope your having a great time with Susie and mawmaw Fife, drinking red wine, watching football, and probably still falling asleep in big comfy chair. 

Someday, I will see your smiling face again, and I will hear your big, deep laugh again. I love you so much and I will miss you every day.

To the Fife Family;
The memories of our two families go back almost 80 years.  I am sincerely sorry for the death of Paul and any other family memory that I did not catch.  You all mean a lot and I am very fond of all our activities.  I send my love and prayers that God will bless you all and are filled with His spirit doing this time. For my friend and brother Paul , I remember all the vacations we took  With our families and all the good times we had throughout the years. I will miss you more than I can put into words. Just knowing you would always be there and now knowing you won’t be is tough to say the least.  It’s so hard to say farewell my friend.

The world is less one genuinely kind person.  So grateful to have been your friend.  Sadie, the coming days will be tough but you have some great memories to pull from.  Our Heavenly Father has welcomed him with open arms.  Heartfelt condolences for the family.  

Where do I begin, this man was my grandfather, my pawpaw. I always got so exited when we all got to his house. He would be waiting outside ready for us to rumble in. His smile was so welcoming, his laugh was so comforting. He was exactly what anyone dreamed of as a grandfather. I love you pawpaw Fife. You will always be in my heart. 

I am so sorry to hear this. Paul was such a nice guy.  We loved setting up next to y’all at the farmers market. He was always willing to help if we needed something. Great guy!  My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.   He will live on in our memories.

My pawpaw was always the one to make everyone in the room laugh. He always told the same funny cheesy jokes but it would always make me laugh and smile. I will forever cherish all the memories we had together.  He was the best father, pawpaw, friend anyone could have had.  May he rest in peace. 

Paul was my brother in law. I have so many memories of All the years we spent together. Hunting..camping and just spending quality time as a family. He wasn't just family he was a dear friend. I will miss him dearly. He will always be in my heart. I will miss you ole buddy.

We met at St. Anthony school in the 40’s and stayed in touch through high school.

Uncle Paul was my uncle and my coach.
He always had a smile on his face and a joke on his lips. He was always happy and made the people around him laugh and smile.  He genuinely cared about his family and his athletes. He will be sorely missed by a world that has forgotten how the laugh but I know his mother will be happy to see him again. He always made her laugh.
