Ethel was born on November 28, 1931, in Port Allen, Louisiana, to Mr. Richard and Irene Broussard. She passed away on Thursday, November 18, 2023, at the age of 91 years old. She was married to Charlie Watkins, and together they had two children. Ethel accepted Christ at the age of 14 and was baptized by Reverend C.T. Ellis of New Aird Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Ethel received a formal education at the Capitol Area Vocational School. She went on to attend a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) school and worked as a nurse at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. She worked tirelessly in the health care field for many years, retiring in 1994 after dedicating her life to nursing and caregiving. Ethel was known for being a loving mother and grandmother, as well as an independent woman with a sharp mind. She was a sharp dresser and loved to care for her family. Her family and those close to her described her as a devoted woman who lived for her children and grandchildren. She was highly respected and beloved by everyone who knew her. Ethel is survived by two children: Dwayne (Alfred) Watkins and Kelly Ross, as well as her grandchildren: Courtney (Richard) Jackson, Emmanuel Alexander, and Dwayne’s children: Kyia Watkins, and Jaida Ross. Her grandchildren include Courtney, Emmanuel, Jaida, and Kyia. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends who loved her dearly. Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard and Irene Broussard; her brother, Freddy Broussard; and her granddaughter, Esnay J. Watkins.

Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home, located at 9595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA 70815, on November 25, 2025, from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm. The funeral service will follow at the same location from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
A graveside service is scheduled at Greenoaks Memorial Park, also at 9595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA 70815, from 2:00 pm to 2:30 pm on the same day.
