
Eugene "Gene" Francis Sanchez passed from this life on Thursday, April 23, 2026 at the age of 83. He was a native of Alexandria, LA, and a resident of Baton Rouge, LA, for over 60 years. He was a longtime parishioner of St. Jude Catholic Church. Gene was a retired CPA who served on the boards of numerous companies and organizations. He was a coach of many of his sons' basketball, football and baseball teams throughout the years. He was an avid LSU fan and season ticket holder of various sports for much of his life enjoying many years of cheering on the Tigers with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Judith Kelley Sanchez; daughter, Kelley Sanchez Behrnes (Robert); sons, Mark Eugene Sanchez (Molly), David Scott Sanchez (Casey), and John Walter Sanchez (Rachel); grandchildren, Jason Rayburn, Kristine R. Cook (Chris), Rhett Rayburn, Todd Sanchez (Emily), Bryson Sanchez, Madison Sanchez, Maxwell Sanchez, Ryann S. Rodosta (Jordan), Evelyn Sanchez (Colyn), Angelina S. Landry (Carter), William Benoit (Angela), and Catherine Sanchez; great-grandchildren, Blake and Jhett Cook, Jonah, Bennie and Anna Sanchez, Riley Marchand, Sage Rodosta, and Charlotte and Colette Benoit; sisters, Kathleen S. Williams and Lucille S. Massey; sister-in-law, Yuki Sanchez; numerous nieces and nephews; and host of other loving family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, John E. Sanchez Sr. and Evelyn H. Sanchez; and his brother, John E. Sanchez, Jr. Visitation will be at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, 9150 Highland Road, Baton Rouge, LA, on April 30, 2026, from 10am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 12pm. Interment will immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and staff at Baton Rouge General Hospital and Our Lady of the Lake Hospital for their compassionate care, dedication, and support for Gene and his family throughout his stay.
