
Eugene Franklin Robins passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2011, at Ollie Steele Burden Manor. He was 72. He is survived by a sister, Gail Robins O'Quin; brother-in-law, Otis William O'Quin; niece, Madeleine Constantine Conger; nephews, John Ashton Constantine and Alexander Robins Constantine; and a great-nephew and great-niece. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy Fleming Robins and I. Ashton Robins, M.D.; and a brother, I. Ashton Robins Jr. Frank was born in Baton Rouge, attended Sewanee Military Academy and graduated from Darlington School in Rome, Ga. He attended LSU and Tulane University where he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity; he also attended Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific. Frank was a fixture at Ollie Steele for the past 12 years, helping with residents and sharing his "wisdom" with them. He was an avid history buff and enjoyed quizzing others on historical facts. One of his last statements, "It's always nice to have friends." The family is indebted to the staff at Ollie Steele for their loving care of Frank during his residence there. Pallbearers will be John Ashton Constantine, William T. Conger, Pastor Levert Kemp, William King Butler, William C. Dodson and Davis A. Gueymard; honorary pallbearer is Alexander Robins Constantine. Visiting at First United Methodist Church, Aldrich Chapel, on Saturday, June 18, from 10:30 a.m. until the service at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Chris Andrews. Interment in Roselawn Memorial Park.
