A native of Iberville Parish and a resident of Sunshine, he died on Sunday, Jan. 25, 2009. He was 72, a U.S. Navy veteran and retired from Borden Dairy after more than 40 years of service. He was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church and an avid crawfisherman. Visitation was on Thursday, Jan. 29, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church from 9:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m., celebrated by the Rev. Tony Russo. Interment was in the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Kathlyn Cagle White; a daughter, Darlene Decell; two sons, Kevin M. White and Randal E. White; three grandchildren, Rebecca White, Ryan Decell, and Jennifer Istre; and two great-granddaughters, Ciara Young and Ava Istre. He is also survived by his sister, Irene Gillespie; and three brothers, Alvin White, Allen White and Louis Ray White. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter White; his mother, Enervie Savoie White; a brother, Shirlyn White; and a grandson, Joey White.
