Eula Decuir Mathis Bertrand, resident of Baton Rouge, passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at The Butterfly Wing of Baton Rouge General Medical Center just one day shy of her 88th birthday. She was a loving wife and mother; and she devoted her time to her family and church. Eula was a member of the Third Order of Mary, Our Lady of Shoenstat Pilgrimage, and Our Lady Queen of Peace Rosary Group. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Alexander Mathis; three sons, Daniel, Patrick and Tony Mathis; parents, Frank and Ethel Decuir; and sister, Patricia Honore. Eula is survived by her husband, Donald Bertrand; daughters, Charmaine Bailey and Klare Joyce; son, Alex Joseph Mathis; sisters, Delores Hornsby and Carolyn Bassett; brothers, Frank Decuir Jr., Dallas Decuir, Alvin Decuir and Ronald Decuir; and numerous grandchildren. Visitation and Rosary will be at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 749 East Blvd, Baton Rouge 70802, on Thursday, September 25, 2014 from 9:00 am until the Memorial Mass begins at 10:00 am. Inurnment will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Eula’s name to Missionaries Charity Queen of Peace Home Shelter, 737 East Blvd, Baton Rouge 70802.
