Eva Ruth Schmieder Brooks

"To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord." 2 Cor. 5:8. Eva Ruth Schmeider Brooks, a retired East Baton Rouge Parish schoolteacher, died Monday, March 28, 2011. She was a member of Istrouma Baptist Church and longtime resident of Baton Rouge, We release our mother to be reunited with her devoted husband, John C. Brooks Jr.; and loving daughter, Melody Jeanne Brooks Sublett. She is survived by three children, Robert Owen Brooks and wife Susan, Laura Brooks Lapham and husband Jimmy, and Julie Brooks Bielitz and husband Wayne; son-in-law, Jamie Sublett; six grandchildren, Erin Brooks Driscoll and husband Steve, Trey Sublett and wife Mona, Nicholas Sublett and wife Ariel, Lynne Brooks Sehr and husband Jason, Jennifer Elaine Bielitz and David Wayne Bielitz; and four great-grandchildren, Drew Goldman, Christopher Sublett, Logan Driscoll and Jaylynne Sher. Preceded in death by her parents, Julius Schnieder and Thelma Hammett Schieder; and three brothers, Juluis Schmieder, Don Schmieder and Richard Schmieder. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., Wednesday, March 30, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Visitation resumes at the funeral home chapel Thursday from 9 a.m. with service at 10 a.m., conducted by Dr. Ron Lambe.
