

Evelyn retired after fifty five years as Executive Secretary of The Morning Advocate newspaper. She was a resident of Baton Rouge, LA and a native of Morgan City, LA. She passed away June 30, 2016 at 11:20 am at Our Lady of The Lake Hospital at age 87. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 5, 2016, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 445 Marquette Avenue, from 8:30 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 celebrated by Father Miles Walsh. Entombment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. She is survived by her son, Dasher Short and wife, Sherri and brother, Robert Fangue. Evelyn is preceded in death by her husband Henry Dorsey Short, Jr.; parents, Vincent Fangue and Adrienne Theriot Fangue; her sisters, Wilhemina and husband, Cleone Clements, Mamie and husband Arnold Boudreaux, her brother, Albert and wife, Irma Fangue. Survived by her grandchildren Adam Vincent Short and Amy Short Long; great grandchildren Riley Sistrunk, Lilly Short, Lincoln Short, Rivington Long and Van Long. Pallbearers will be Adam Short, Rodney Boudreaux, Billy Lemoine, John Long, Frankie Culotta and Mark Culotta. She was a graduate of Baton Rouge Business School and her hobbies were painting, gardening and needle pointing. She was a long-time volunteer at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center. The family would like to thank the staff of Our Lady of The Lake I.C.U. for their compassionate care and professionalism.
