
Evelyn Hunt Sylvest a native of Kokomo Mississippi and a resident of Baton Rouge passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Monday, May 14, 2012 at the age of 81. She enjoyed being with family and friends, she loved gardening, cooking and cheering for her favorite team. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be missed dearly by all that knew her. She was a woman of faith and the heart of the Sylvest family, she was our rock. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband James Michael Sylvest, her grandson Dylan Christopher Hoggatt, her parents Will and Jessie Mae Hunt, her brother Wendell Hunt and her brother Charles Hunt. She is survived by her son Bobby Nichols and wife June, her daughter Trish Jones, her daughter Pamela Martin and husband Patrick, her son Tony Sylvest and wife Anne, her son David Sylvest and wife Jerri. Her grandchildren Brian, Amy, Christina, Adam, Eric, Melissa, Claire, Alex, Tyler, Samantha, Emily and Garrett. Her great grandcildren Jada, Travis, Amelia, Leah, Haylee, Hailey and Rilynn; and many beloved cousins, neices and nephews. Lucy Russell, her sister-in-law, was the "sister" she never had. They were as close as any sisters could have been. A special thanks to the wonderful doctors and nurses that tenderly and compassionately cared for her during her hospital stay at Ochsner Medical Center. Also we would like to say thanks to Bernice and Tara from St. Joseph's Hospice for helping us when we brought our mother home. Pallbearers will be Mickey Broome, Steve Broome, John Russell, Zachary Broome, Eric Schatzle, Tyler Sylvest, Garrett Sylvest, and Brian Drew. Honarary pallbearer is Brian Nichols. Visitation will be held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, on Friday, May 18, from 8am until funeral service at 11:30am, conducted by Rev. Dale Phillips. Interment in Port Hudson National Cemetery.
