Born Nov. 13, 1922, in Lafourche Parish, Fadra Lucy Weimer Dixon, our wonderful mother, known as "Meemaw" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2008. She was 85. Our mother was totally devoted to her husband, her eight children and their families. She had a special way of making each one of us feel as if we were her "favorite" child. In order to help support our large family, she worked nights as a registered nurse in surgery at the original Lady of the Lake Hospital so that she could be at home during the day with her children. We will honor her memory and remember her unselfishness for all of our lives. To be a good mother is the single most important job in the world and you fulfilled that task in every way, Mom. Thank you so much for all of the sacrifices you made for us and for loving us all so unconditionally. To cherish her memory she leaves three daughters and a son-in-law, Frances Dixon, Kathy and Al Sanders, and Carolyn Comeaux; five sons and three daughters-in-law, Bill Jr. and Barbara Dixon, Charlie Dixon, Jimmy and Susie Dixon, Curt Sr. and Mary Dixon, and Sam Dixon; grandchildren, Billie Dixon III, Emily Dixon, Jill Jonason and husband Norren, Jodi Jowers and husband Kevin, Janaki Comeaux and fiancé John Wesley Mathews, Katie Comeaux and fiancé Matthew Mackay, Brad Dixon and wife Megan, Megan Reneé Dixon, Curtis Dixon Jr. and Barrett Dixon; great-grandchildren, Jaime Jonason, Jordan Jonason, Taylor Jowers, and Sam Jowers; a brother, George Weimer; numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom loved her as if she were their own mother and all of whom she equally loved; and a large host of relatives and friends. Meemaw was loved very much by her in-laws in Texas, Allie Venita Rush, John and Agnes Dixon, Oscar and Bea Dixon, Tommy and Jean Dixon and Nelson Dixon; as well as several nieces and nephews and a godchild, Randy Weimer. Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bill Dixon Sr.; parents, George Wendel Weimer Sr. and Leontine Amelie Guedry Weimer; brothers, Lowell Weimer and Cliff Weimer; sisters, Lorna Weimer, Mrs. Irvin (Winnie) Head, Mrs. Q.A. (Boo) Hester and Verda Weimer; brothers-in-law, Dr. Mugur Ranga Suba Rao, Q.A. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., on Friday was from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Visiting at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church on Saturday, April 26, from 8 a.m. until funeral mass at 9 a.m. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory on Jefferson Highway, next to her beloved husband and our father, Bill. Pallbearers will be sons and grandsons. With the passing of this wonderfully kind and decent woman, there is an empty place in the world for us that no one else will be able to fill. We love you and will miss you Meemaw.
