

Flora Parker Goynes (aka Granny, G'maw, Granny Flo and Aunt Flo) went home to be with Jesus on February 3, 2016. She was 87 years old. Flora was born on June 14, 1928, in Leake County, Mississippi. She married Francis Robert Goynes, Sr. on November 22, 1947. He preceded her in death. Flora was survived by her daughter Roxie F. Goynes of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and her son Robert Goynes and his wife Cindy of Chico, Texas. She was survived by four grandsons, Billy and Bobby Goynes and Geoff and Greg Clark; and three great-granddaughters, Abigail, Danielle and Natalie. She was also survived by one sister, Retta Bellegraph and her husband Gene of Zachery, Louisiana and two brothers, Carlton Parker of Zachary, Louisiana and Amos Parker and his wife Colleen of Summit, Mississippi. Flora was retired from Louisiana Midland Railroad, in Jena, Louisiana. She was a member of Sherwood Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and a 48 year member of Woodman Life Chapter 1145 in Jena. Visitation will be on Sunday, February 7, 2016, from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Rabenhorst East on Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The funeral will be Monday, February 8, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Temple Baptist Church, 5933 Aimwell Rd., Jena, LA 71342. There will be a short visitation from 10:30 a.m. until the service. Entombment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Jena, LA. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in her memory to either Temple Baptist Church, Jena, Louisiana or Sherwood Baptist Church, Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
