Floret Rose Kaufman Newman passed away at 5 a.m.Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2007, at Heritage Manor. She was 79. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., on Thursday, Feb. 15, from noonuntil religious service in the chapel at 2 p.m., conducted by Rabbi Barry Weinstein. Interment will be in the Jewish Cemetery. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Newman; two sons, Lee Newman, and Louis Newman and wife Melanie; and eight grandchildren, Savannah Newman, Claire Newman, Whitney Sloan Bancroft, Julie Mykoff, Eugene "Gene" Mykoff, Louis Mykoff, David Newman and Corinne "Cori" Mykoff. Pallbearers will be Dr. Jack Stovall, Steve Immel, Kim Mayhall, David Newman, Gene Mykoff and Louis Mykoff. Honorary pallbearers are Robert Blumberg and Metz Kahn. She earned a degree at LSU in sociology and was in the Sigma Delta Tau sorority.
