

A resident of Baton Rouge, he passed away Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was 74 and a native of Opelousas. Visitation at St. Isidore Catholic Church, 5657 Thomas Road, Baker, on Friday, Sept. 17, from 10 a.m. until memorial Mass at 11 a.m., concelebrated by the Rev. Fred Youngs and the Rev. Frank Bass. Inurnment in Greenoaks Memorial Park, followed by a reception at Life Celebration Center, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge. Floyd is survived by his wife of 52 years, Wanda Young Johnson; three daughters, Stephanie R. Johnson and life partner Alma L. Wilbert, and Renee Johnson, all of Baton Rouge, and Rachelle Noland and her husband, Elton Noland, of Centreville, Miss.; three sisters, Barbara Soileau and her husband, Jerry, of Zachary, Rita "Pappy" Everett and husband Emmett, of Baton Rouge, and Claudia "Tootie" Joubert and husband Nelson, of Opelousas; brother, Crawford "Buddy" Johnson Jr. and wife Charlene, of Port Allen; two grandchildren, Erik R. Noland and Ethan R. Noland, both of Centreville; longtime canine companion, Itsy Bitsy; and numerous nieces and nephews. Floyd was preceded in death by his father, Crawford Johnson; and mother, Claudia Chelette Johnson. Floyd graduated from Opelousas High School in 1954. He retired from La. Welding Supply Co., now Airgas, after 35 years of service. He was a former Elks Club member and choir member at St. Isidore Catholic Church. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donation be made to Hospice of Baton Rouge or St. Isidore Catholic Church. The family would like to give a special thanks to Cathy and the aides of Hospice of Baton Rouge and Dr. Gerald Miletello.
