
Frances Laurent Ducote, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away Friday, July 29, 2011, at the Louisiana War Veterans home at age 89. She had been a resident of Baton Rouge for the past 20 years after the death of her husband, Douglas Ducote. Prior to that she was a resident of Cottonport for 40 years. She was born and raised in New Roads. She was the oldest of four children born to Edwin and Ivy Laurent, who preceded her in death, as did her brother, Eddie Laurent. She is survived by two sisters, Ola Adams and Barbara Jarreau, of Baton Rouge; and three sons, Douglas Ducote Jr., of The Woodlands, Texas, Rush Ducote and Jere Ducote, of Baton Rouge; a daughter, Eileen Ducote, of Seattle; a son-in-law, Robert Lyle; and three daughters-in-Iaw, Linda Ducote, Paula Deano and Donna Cooper. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Frances was a U.S. Army veteran who served her country proudly during World War II as a sergeant. Later in life, she was affectionately known as Granny to everyone who knew her but especially to her grandchildren, step grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all the neighborhood kids who came over to visit. She loved the little kids and especially liked to sit on the floor with them and play and they loved her for it. She will be greatly missed by all of us. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Sunday, July 31, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Memorial Mass at St. Jean Vianney Catholic Church on Monday, Aug. 1, at 11:3O a.m. with visitation beginning at 1O:30 a.m., followed by burial services at St. Mary's Catholic Church Mausoleum No. 2 in Cottonport at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
