Frank Joseph Johnson, a loving partner, son, brother, uncle, cousin, a true and loyal friend to many, and a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away after a car accident on Friday, May 24, 2024, in Rosenberg, Texas. He was 66 years old. Frank was born in Baton Rouge on March 25, 1958 to the union of Bernadine Stemley Johnson and Alton Lee Johnson. He was reared in a Christian home, and was baptized at an early age at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Baton Rouge. He was educated in the East Baton Rouge Parish Public School System, and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1976. Upon graduation, he began studies at Louisiana State University where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, and became a lifelong member of the American Institute of Industrial Engineers (AIIE) in 1983. Frank had an impressive and illustrious 44 year career in the domestic and international gas and oil industry, working for Conoco Inc for 27 of those years, not only the United States, but also in Venezuela, Nigeria, and Doha, and working for Dubai Petroleum Company in the United Arab Emirates. After retirement from international employment, Frank began consulting work with Marine Well Containment Company in Texas as a consultant, and then as Senior Field Superintendent, where he was employed at the time of his death. In addition to Frank’s achievements in his engineering career, he also owned a successful and profitable commercial mail receiving business for 15 years with his mother/business partner until she retired. During the weeks when he was home from work, Frank loved to relax, watch TV, and entertain and spend time with family and friends. He hosted many family gatherings over the years at his home, including Good Friday crawfish boils, Christmas gift exchanges, and New Year’s celebrations. He was an excellent cook of traditional Southern cuisine, including gumbo, and his delicious specialty dessert of Doubletree cookies which were a favorite of everyone. He loved attending and watching sports events, and was an avid LSU Tiger and New Orleans Saints fan. As an LSU season ticket holder, he rarely missed a football game. He is survived by his teenage sweetheart and (later on in life) partner of 16 years, Theresa Domingue Mcknight, his sister, Alcyone J. Cooper, both of Baton Rouge; his nephews, Byron Redditt (Michelle), Jason Cooper (Joyce) all of Tacoma, WA; Anthony Joel Cooper of Las Vegas, NV; his great-nieces, Mia and Madelyn Redditt and Zalicia Cooper, of Tacoma, WA; and much loved cousins, Lorraine Pennyman (Chontae) and their children, Jayden, Alana, and Kyra; Sarilyn Johnson Carter of Baton Rouge, Sharon Street of Zachary and her siblings, and Sandra Johnson of Minneapolis, MN. He is also survived by his childhood neighbors and bonus siblings, Renato Glasper (Loretta), Sanettria (Gregory) Pleasant, and Toni White Douglas, all of Baton Rouge; loved as his nieces and nephew, Amelia and Warren Pleasant, Monique Douglas Courtney (Antoine); Baton Rouge, bonus aunt, Shirley Fleet of Baton Rouge he loving called Tee Shirley and a special group of lifelong classmates who became family over the years. and a host of other relatives, and friends. The family would also like to thank and acknowledge Rabenhorst Funeral Home, Greenoaks Memorial Park, the staff at MWCC, the staff at the Louisiana Legislature, and special friends in The Lakes at Highland. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alton and Bernadine Johnson; paternal grandparents, Frank and Laura Washington Johnson; maternal grandparents, Herbert Stemley and Annie McKinney Woodruff; and sister, Frankie Marie Johnson. Visitation Saturday, June 8th, at St. Jude Catholic Church, 9150 Highland Road. Baton Rouge, LA from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. immediately followed by religious services conducted by Fr. Trey Nelson. Entombment at Green Oaks Memorial Park Mausoleum and the repast to be held on the cemetery grounds at Greenoaks Life Celebration Reception Center.
