

Frank Carroll Smith passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at his home in Central surrounded by his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge and Central, and was a retired employee of Jacob's Engineering. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Louise; sons Clay and his wife Kelli, and Glen and his fiancéé Renee. He is also survived by his grandsons: Cory and his wife Haley, Chase and his wife Jayme, and Gabe Smith; his granddaughters Katelyn and Jessie Smith; and great-grandchildren: Brynley, Bailey and Lylah. He is preceded in death by his father, Eudeen C. Smith and his mother, Leila Smith Detlefs. Frank was a 1965 graduate of Baton Rouge High School and LSU Lafayette. He was a life member First Methodist Church. He will always be remembered for his love for bowling, drag racing, fishing, and gardening. He was also an excellent chef and an avid LSU fan. Visitation will be Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd on Thursday, June 2, 2016, from 5pm until 9pm. Visitation will resume at Rabenhorst on Friday morning at 9am and will continue until funeral at 10am in the Chapel, conducted by Rev. Ginny Allen of St. Luke's Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Serving as Pallbearers will be Cory Smith, Chase Smith, Gabe Smith, Jeff James, Daryl Freyou, and Lance Chauvin, with Lillard Bruce as Honorary Pallbearer.
