

Fred Oliver Carpenter, loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away on June 27, 2015 at the age of 87. He was born April 27, 1928 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He was survived by his wife of 67 years, Gloria Lambert Carpenter, and their six children and their spouses; Marguerite Blackard, Randy Carpenter, Becky LaBorde, Daryl Carpenter and wife Kelly, Rusty Carpenter and wife Heather, Cammie Holmes and husband Warren, 13 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, two brothers; Henry Carpenter and Max Carpenter, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; Benjamin Carpenter and Gladys Thiel Carpenter, brother, Thomas Carpenter, sister, Gladys Carpenter McHorney, and grandson, Eric Blackard. He was retired after 35 years of service as superintendent of Capitol Steel, and remained owner of Torch Repair, his personal business that he started 50 years ago. He was a very special person that touched the lives of many, and he will be missed dearly by all those who knew him. Visitation will be held on July 1 2015, 12:00-2:00pm at Greenoaks Funeral Home with funeral service at 2:00pm. Interment will immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
