

A native of Erwinville and a resident of Denham Springs, he died Monday, June 21, 2010, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He was 80 and a U.S. Navy veteran who served in the Seabees. He was a former fireman for the city of Baton Rouge, a longtime barber in Baton Rouge, served as a city-parish councilman from 1980 to 1988, and worked in public relations for Fred Boyd Amusements. Gary is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dee Dee Bergeron; daughter, Joselle Bergeron and her daughter, Alexis Bergeron; a daughter from a previous marriage, Debbie Arnold and her children, Angela and Dustin; a sister, Ida Mae Cobb; twin brothers, Kermit Bergeron and his wife, Ruth, and Kearney Bergeron and his wife, Dot; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Mary Louise Bergeron; two brothers, infant John Ray Bergeron and Malcolm "Man" Bergeron; and two sisters, Rita Bueche and Carole Dykes. Gary was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Denham Springs, and was the 1984 King of Krewe of Tucumcari along with his daughter, Joselle, who was Queen. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt rabbits and squirrels with his brothers. The family offers special thanks to his nephew, Kenny Bueche, for all that he has done for Gary throughout his life. Visiting at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Denham Springs, Saturday, June 26, from 9 a.m. until Mass at 11 a.m., celebrated by the Rev. Frank M. Uter.
