
On Thursday, April 19, 2012, heaven claimed what was rightfully His, Gary Joseph Mascaro. Gary, beloved son of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold J. Mascaro Sr., was born on August 26, 1945 in Pascagoula, MS. He attended Sacred Heart Catholic School and later Baton Rouge High School. In 1963, his senior year of high school, Gary enlisted in the Marine Corps and honorably fought for his country in the Vietnam War until 1969. Gary was a senior piping designer by trade for more than 20 years. Gary spent his life devoted to his true passion, his family. Often considered the true "MacGyver", Gary or better known as Gorilla, could fix anything from a car to a broken vase. He will be deeply missed by ALL for his humor could lighten any room and his strength was that of a thousand men. Gary was truly one of a kind - so giving of his time and knowledge. He carried the weight of his family upon his shoulders his entire life and still does. Daddy, we love you! He is preceded in death by his father, Arnold J. Mascaro Sr. Gary is survived by his mother, Nancy Mascaro; his beloved wife of nearly 42 years, Donna D. Mascaro; his brothers Arnold Mascaro Jr. and wife, Janet, and David Mascaro and wife, Kathy; his sisters: Sandra Azar, Peggy Mascaro, and Wendy Mascaro; his 3 children: Josh Mascaro, Justin Mascaro, and Samantha Mascaro; and his beautiful grandchildren: Taylor, Gillian, and Peyton. Visitation will be on Wednesday April 25, 2012 from 9 a.m. until mass at 11 a.m. at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in St. Gabriel, La. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. at Port Hudson National Cemetery in Zachary, La. Rabenhorst Funeral Home East in charge of arrangements.
