Gene Miley, 94, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away on October 15, 2023. Gene was born in Baton Rouge and graduated from Istrouma High School in 1946. He attended Louisiana State University before enlisting in the Air Force, where he served honorably. After being discharged, Alvin returned home to Baton Rouge where he partnered with his father in a successful construction and real estate development business that spanned decades.
Mr. Miley was a loving family man who leaves behind his devoted wife Jessie P. Miley; 2 daughters, Connie M. Jones and Vickie Percle; son, William A. “Bill” Miley; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Gene was preceded in death by his first wife of 53 years, Dorothy L. Miley, who passed away in 2003; his parents, William Robert Miley and Mary Lee Boyd Miley; two sisters, Elsie M. Furlow and Oakley M. Granata; his daughter, Karen M. Bean; and grandson, Corey E. Blackledge.
A visitation will be held on Friday, October 20 at Jefferson United Methodist Church, Baton Rouge, from 9:00 AM until the funeral service officiated by Rev. Leslie Stephens at 10:00 AM. Interment will take place at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Miley, Trent Miley, Tyler Miley, Chad Miley, Dustin Kleinpeter, Jordan Kleinpeter, and Mike Watson. Honorary pallbearer is Munson Bond.
