Geneva M. Steele

A resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Swiftown, Miss., Miss Genny passed away Christmas Day, Dec. 25, 2011, at the age of 68. Preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Myrtle Murff, she is survived by an only daughter, Genny L. Hatley, along with Jason Aucoin; four grandsons, Sean, Seth, Talon and Brandon, his wife, Maggie; great-grandson, Bryce; sisters, Jewel Murff and Bess Watson; brother, Jimmy Murff; nieces, Sheila and Jeanette; and nephew, Junior. She was a supervisor with the Baton Rouge Water Co., where she worked for more than 30 years. She was a devoted, awesome mother and grandmother. She was strong-willed and very independent with a 14k heart-of-gold! She will be greatly missed by all. A very special thanks to the The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice and the hospice staff who cared for her in her last days. Family and friends are invited to the visitation at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., on Friday, Dec. 30, from noon, until funeral services at 2 p.m.
