

George Dewey Hollingsworth Jr., a kind, gentle man with great character and integrity, passed away Friday February 9, 2018, surrounded by family. He was born June 23, 1926, in Baton Rouge. George attended LSU before enlisting in the Navy where he proudly served his country during World War II. After his service, he graduated from Southwestern Louisiana University in Lafayette and returned home to Baton Rouge where he met his loving wife Cathy of 61 years. George enjoyed a long career in finance and retired in 1989 from Premier Bank. He will be deeply missed by his three children Susan Hollingsworth Morris, Mike Hollingsworth and wife, Gaye, and Mark Hollingsworth, and wife Terrie, five grandchildren Matthew Morris and wife Ashley, Hope Hollingsworth Palmer and husband Hunt, Blake Hollingsworth, Lauren Hollingsworth Kinchen and husband Hunter and Todd Hollingsworth and wife Charlotte, and great granddaughter, Harper Morris. George was a devoted Christian and faithfully served his church in many capacities over the years. He enjoyed the time he spent with his family and watching LSU athletics, and he was an avid tennis player and golfer. George is preceded in death by his parents George Dewey Hollingswoth and Mayola Allbritton Hollingsworth. Visitation will take place at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 10:00 am until services at 12:00.
