

George Theodore Meyer, Jr., native of New Orleans, LA, and long-time resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on June 14, 2026, at the age of 83. After graduating from Southeastern Louisiana Anniversary, he began a decades long career with Ford Motor Credit until retirement. True to his tireless work ethic, he continued part time employment with multiple finance companies for many years after retirement. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to the many who were lucky enough to know him. He was well known and loved for his joy and infectious laughter, finding the humor and delight in even the most mundane and simplest of moments. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, watching baseball, playing games, puzzles, and especially spending quality time with family and friends.
He is survived by son, Michael Meyer; his daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Michael Herrington; grandchildren, Carley Leach and Garrett Herrington; great-grandchildren, Rowan Herrington and Koreh Leach; sister and brother-in-law, Gwendolyn and Bob Hamm; brother-in-law, Richard Day; brother and sister-in-law, Winston and Bernadette Day; nieces, Phyllis Herron and Crystal Dupre; friend/cousin, Karen Myers and her husband Edward.
He is preceded in death by his parents, George Theodore Meyer, Sr. and Violet Meyer Fasnacht; and his loving wife, Bobbie Day Meyer.
