
A resident and native of Baton Rouge, he died at 6 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 27, 2011. He was 59. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., Thursday, Dec. 1, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation resumes at St. Gerard Majella Church on Friday, Dec. 2, from 9 a.m. until service time at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Sam Maranto. He is survived by his wife, Julia Rivett; mother, Lodena Rivett; daughters, Whitney Rivett and Natasha Wax; son, Gerald J. "Trey" Rivett III; stepson, Justin Delong; sister, Sharon and husband C.A. Britt; brother, Ricky and wife Kim Rivett; and three grandchildren, Layla Rivett and her mother, Shannon Rivett, Jonathan and Logan Perron. He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Rivett Sr.; brother, Terry Rivett; sister, Betty Rae Mayeux; nephew, Brandon Rivett; and grandparents, Wallace and Mary Rivett, and Mr. and Mrs. Christian Dietrich. Pallbearers will be Heath Britt, Justin Rivett, Mike Dietrich, Mike Maranto, David Landry, Douglas Macqueen and Derek Britt. He was a graduate of Redemptorist High School class of 1970 and attended LSU. He loved the New York Yankees, the LSU Tigers and "The Wolves."
