

Geraldine “Geri” Williams Carlton passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 14, 2015 surrounded by her family. Mrs. Carlton was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on September 17, 1923 to Ross and Agnes Williams. She was a graduate of Baton Rouge High School, attended and ultimately worked at and retired from Louisiana State University. Geri and her husband, Jack, were founding members of Sherwood Baptist Church and was active in the church for many years. She was, at the time of her death, a member of First Baptist Church of Denham Springs, as well as many other organizations including Young at Hearts at First United Methodist Church and Denham Springs Camping Club. Geri and Jack, her husband of 52 years, spent their retirement years traveling the country in their motorhome with their many friends. She was a beloved and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and loved spending her time with her family and friends, who will all miss her dearly. Geri is survived by her children, Dennis E. Carlton and his wife Connie, Carol Lynn Carlton, Walter (Jack) Carlton, III and his wife Linda, 10 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Bettye Joan Williams. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter “Jack” M. Carlton Jr., parents, Ross J. and Agnes Williams Sr., brothers, Ross J. Williams Jr. and Calvin W. Williams. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Chris Carlton, Scott Carlton and Kevin Edwards, and great-grandsons, Mitchell McCullough, Mason McCullough and Brady Carlton. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Saturday, April 18, 2015 from 10:00am until service time at 12:00pm. Interment will immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Joseph’s Hospice.
