

Gertrude Anna Hanks Castille passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 6, 2007, at the age of 65. Born in Lyons Point, the family also resided in Palmetto before moving to Crowley. After graduating nursing school, she settled inPasadena, Texas, where she retired from St. Joseph's Hospital after 33 years of service. She later relocated back to Louisianato enjoy her Cajun heritage. She is survived by her four children, Angie Castille of Pelion, S.C., Elizabeth Michaels of San Antonio, Pamela Smallwood of Pasadena and James Ray Castille of San Antonio; three grandchildren, Travis Smallwood, Danielle Gururajan and Tristan Maggard; brothers, Mason, Lawrence and Johnny Hanks; and sisters, Sadie Lantier, Doris Miller and Betty Hanks. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Eunice and Gillis Hanks; and brothers, Harry and Forest Hanks. Please join the family in honoring her very respectable life, at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., on Friday, March 9, with visitation starting at 1 p.m.followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
