Gladys del Carmen Gonzalez Carcamo, age 81, passed away from natural causes on March 18, 2022, at the Woodleigh Senior Living Community in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She was surrounded and comforted by family members.
Gladys was born in San Luis Jilotepeque, Guatemala, and moved to New Orleans, Louisiana when she was 21 years old. She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Maria Gonzalez.
She was survived by her two sons, Marc Carcamo and his wife Rachael, Oscar Carcamo, and his wife Denise; her seven grandchildren, Jordan, Hunter, Samantha, Campbell, Sophia, Madeline, and Caroline; and her siblings Victor, Lillian, Hugo, Thelma, and Ana.
Gladys retired from Williamsburg Senior Living Community in 2014 where she helped care for the elderly. She was a daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, loving friend, and a woman of faith. She was a world traveler, garage sale enthusiast, obsessive shopper, and repeatedly challenged by modern technology. Everyone who knew Gladys expressed the following, “Your mom is the sweetest lady!” Gladys was a mother to all. She loved God with all her heart and was an example of genuine kindness and unconditional love. To her sons, Marc and Oscar, she was a mother, friend, and hero. Her goodness, bravery, and sacrifices shaped who we have become as individuals and will continue to do so. Our hearts are broken, and she will be forever missed.
Gladys was a simple and humble lady. In respect of her wishes, there will not be a funeral service. Her final wish was for her sons to be together and spread her ashes in her favorite place. Please visit www.greenoaksfunerals.com to leave condolences to the family.
