Glen Allen Meyers, age 76, passed away peacefully at his home on May 31, 2025, surrounded by his loving wife, children, and grandchildren. After living with Parkinson’s disease for 18 years, Glen faced his final days with grace and strength, only recently experiencing a rapid decline in health.
Glen was born in Portsmouth, Virginia, and raised in Central, Louisiana. A graduate of Central High School, he spent his adult life in Baton Rouge. He served honorably in the United States Navy, enlisting in 1966 and was a proud Vietnam War veteran. He will receive military honors in recognition of his service.
Following his military service, Glen worked as a plant supervisor at Shell Oil Company for nearly three decades before retiring at the age of 53. In his younger years, he played saxophone and jazz, and throughout his life, he nurtured a deep love of music, motorcycles, long-distance bicycling, and the beach. He had a special love for Jamaica and frequented his beachside condo in Florida, where he found joy and peace.
Glen was wise beyond his years and had a gift for teaching life’s most valuable lessons in a way that left lasting impressions. He was loved by many and had a way of making everyone he met feel seen and remembered. His presence lit up every room, and the wisdom he shared will continue to guide those who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rosa Mae Miller Meyers and Richard Caswell Meyers Jr., and by his siblings, Richard C. Meyers III and Rosemary Meyers Brumfield.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 27 years, Gwendolyn Bezett Meyers; his children, Glen Allen Meyers Jr. (Tonya), Gabrielle Bezett Meyers (Justin), Catherine Christine Meyers McLin (Jimmy), and John Patrick Meyers; his grandchildren, Carissa Meyers Tullier (Rusty), Trey McLin, Makenzie Meyers, and Theia Meyers; and his great-grandchildren, Emberly Tullier and Ella Tullier. He is also survived by his sister, Madeleine Meyers Needles (Charles).
Glen will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, generous heart, and unwavering love for his family. His laughter, his stories, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 8, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed by a full service at 2:00 p.m.
Flowers may be sent to Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., Baton Rouge, LA 70802. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Parkinson’s Foundation in honor of Glen.
