

Gloria Guidry Barbin passed away May 23, 2015, surrounded by family and is now in glory with the angels rejoicing and singing Alleluia, Alleluia, to the Lord. She was born in White Castle, LA, on November 1, 1922, and was a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge. She attended the Louisiana School for the Deaf where she met and married the love of her life, Herman Joseph Barbin of Marksville, LA. She loved all things Louisiana "“ pelicans, magnolias, seafood gumbo, and LSU football. She led a life centered around and devoted to her large and ever growing family. She was an inspiration through her extraordinary spirit of courage, discipline, and strength. We will honor her legacy of fortitude. She will be missed in our family celebrations and throughout our daily lives. She is preceded in death by parents, Ella and Jules Guidry, brothers, Edward and Leonard, husband, Herman Joseph, daughter-in-law, Mary Lee Barbin, grandson, Christopher Wayne Barbin. She is survived by a sister, Marion Watson; three children and spouses: Betty and Charlie Cortez, H. Jay and Nina Barbin, Jules Wayne and Liz Barbin. Maw Maw was active in the lives of her 10 grandchildren and their spouses: Kevin and Laura Cortez, Scott and Mary Cortez, Cheryl and Boyd Causey, Rebecca and Jeff Milton, Aimee and Brian Hickman, Jeff and Allison Barbin, Paul and Laura Barbin, and Kelly Barbin, Allison Huber, Andrew and Joy Huber; 16 great grandchildren and spouses: Ronnie and Becca Causey, Cassidy Causey, Stephanie and C.J. Brennan, Kerri Milton, Emily Barbin, Elise Barbin, Ethan Barbin, Camile Barbin, Matthew Cortez, Jenna Cortez, Eil Barbin, Gabriela Barbin, Heather and Carl Templet, Sheree and Patrick Gerald; 4 great-great grandchildren: Michael and Catherine Brennan, Kendall Gerald, Emerson Belle Causey; numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.
