Gloria Jane Schexnayder

"Gloria, a native of Paulina, LA, passed away on September 4, 2016 at the age of 90. She was a resident of Baton Rouge for the past 66 years. She was a teacher, apartment manager and coach. Gloria played an important part in the opening of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic School. She was the 4th of 11 children. She was the daughter of the late Edgar Schexnayder and the late Noela Frederic Schexnayder; sister of Margery Groteguth (Arthur), Grace Schexnayder, Dolores Masson (Harry), Phyllis Englade (Albert), Mary Scallan (Herman), Elwood Schexnayder (Thelma), Ray Schexnayder (Rose), Paul Schexnayder (Barbara), Rogwell Schexnayder (Nita), Marlyn Staley (Ken); dear friend of Phyllis Territo for 51 years. Survived by numerous nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and nephews. Preceeded in death by 3 sisters: Grace Schexnayder, Margery Groteguth and Marlyn Staley; 2 nephews: Jeff Scallan and Clay Englade and a grand-niece Kay Schexnayder. Gloria was a long time member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church serving as Eucharistic Minister in the homes for years with Sr. Catherine. She also served for several years on the Social Responsibility team for the church. Visiting will be at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 2250 Main Street, Baton Rouge, Thursday, September 8, 2016 from 10:00 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 celebrated by Rev.
