

“The time has come that I must go, when the evening sun is setting low, to meet the deeds that I have done, where there is no setting sun.” A loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather passed away peacefully on September 3, 2012 at the age of 95. He was a resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Walker who is retired from Capital City Transit. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home 9595 Florida Blvd. on Thursday, September 6, 2012, from 5 PM until 9 PM and will resume on Friday, September 7, 2012, from 12 PM until service at 2 PM. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. He is survived by two daughters, Louise and Chester Parish, and Paula and Roger Waldrop; two sons, Grady Jr. and Lori Covington, and Preston and Diane Covington; one sister, Alvis Stafford; one brother, Aubrey and Jeanine Covington; nine grandchildren, Kelly and Daron McKnight, Kimberly and Cameron Carpenter, Travis and Jessica Horner, Josh and Amber Horner, Micah Luther, Marshall Luther, Trent Waldrop, Melissa and Alan Guitreau, and Troy and Laura Covington; and nine great grandchildren, Maycee and Carter McKnight, Abigail Carpenter, Hannah Wilson, Lawson Horner, Brody and Eli Horner, and Christine and Robert Guitreau. He is preceded in death by his wife, Eldo Miller Covington; parents, Arch and Alice Erwin Covington; three sisters, Jessie Barnett, Hazel Watts, and Gladys Williams; and two brothers, Warren Williams and Roy Covington. Pallbearers will be Trent Waldrop, Travis and Josh Horner, Daron McKnight, Cameron Carpenter, and Micah and Marshall Luther. Grady was a WWII Veteran, a member of the American Legion and loved to fish and garden. He will truly be missed.
