
A native and resident of Baton Rouge, Guy passed away peacefully at the age of 81 on Sunday, Aug. 7, 2011, with his loving family by his side. He was a graduate of Catholic High School Class of 1948. Guy is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Lucille Corsentino Lato; daughter, Brenda Lato Hamilton and husband Cal, of Baton Rouge; sons, Ronald "Bubby" Lato and wife Kathy, of Houston, Texas, and Ricky Lato and wife Kathy, of Baton Rouge; six grandchildren, Sheri Leigh Parker, Jessica Lato Williams and husband Daniel, Dillon Guy Lato, Cal B. Hamilton, IV, Adam Porter Lato, Kelsey Noel Lato; four great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Marie Parker, Lucy Grace Parker, Tyler Matthew Williams, and Andrew Porter Williams. He is also survived by his brothers, Johnny Lato, Louis Lato and wife Margaret; and sister, Joan Barbay. He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Lena Lato Sr.; brothers, Joe and Sam Lato; and sisters, Mary Gomez and Virginia Trahan. He was a member of Greater Baton Rouge American Italian Association, Progressive Men's Club of Baton Rouge where he served as President, Knights of Columbus Council 4030, American Italian Federation of the Southeast, where he served as a delegate, UCT, and a former member of Grandsons of Italy, Catholic High School Men's Club and the Italian Marching Club. Paw Paw loved spending time with his beautiful grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an avid gardener and LSU sports fan. He enjoyed the many years spent working on the St. Joseph's Altar and his Saturdays at The Patio. Guy and Lou enjoyed dancing on weekends with their many friends and their numerous trips and cruises, especially their most recent trip to Italy. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home on Florida Blvd., on Tuesday, Aug. 9, was from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation resumes on Wednesday, Aug. 10, at St. George Catholic Church from 10 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at noon, presided by the Rev. Greg Daigle. A military burial will follow at St. George Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be Cal Hamilton III, Cal Hamilton IV, Dillon Lato, Adam Lato, Louis Lato and Sonny Gomez. Honorary Pallbearers are Charlie Gant, Mike Patterson, Alvin Lorio and Sonny Politz. The family would like to thank Dr. Miletello and his staff, the wonderful staff at the Pennington Cancer Center of the Baton Rouge General on Bluebonnet, especially his "girlfriends," his nurses and PCAs, for their tender and loving care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Catholic High School and Cancer Services of Baton Rouge.
