Guy Powers Ogden, a native of Baton Rouge, born Feb. 23, 1944, died unexpectedly at his home Friday, Aug. 27, 2010. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Ogden attended Bernard Terrace Elementary in Baton Rouge and Neville High School in Monroe, where he met his wife. Ogden was a member of Phi Delta Theta at LSU. He received his pilot's license in 1966. Together with his brothers, he owned and operated a chain of movie theaters along the Gulf Coast. Ogden was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Ogden Faulk; and father, Gordon Cole Ogden. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Louise Weir Ogden; son, Chad Christopher Ogden and wife Julia; daughter, Jennifer Ogden Holmes and husband Christopher; daughter, Wendy Elizabeth Ogden; grandchildren, Grace, Chloe and Katelyn Ogden and James Holmes; brothers, Gordon Ogden and Randolph Ogden; stepbrother, Gilbert Faulk; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., Monday, Aug. 30, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation resumes at the funeral home Tuesday, Aug. 31, from 1 p.m. until service in the chapel at 2 p.m. Burial in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be his nephews, Gordon, Newt, Scott, Todd, Tobi, Randy and John Ogden and John Raymond. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Capital Area Animal Welfare Society, 6357 Quinn Drive, Baton Rouge, LA 70817.
