
A resident of Baton Rouge. he died at 12:10 p.m. Friday. Oct. 22, 2010, at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice after a short battle with cancer. Harold was 74. He grew up in Central and attended Central High School where he was a member of the football team. He bravely served in the U.S. Marine Corps and received an honorable discharge. He lived in GiIIsburg, Miss., for many years, worked as an electrician with the Local 995 Union of Baton Rouge, and was a member of Red Bluff Baptist Church. He is survived by a sister, Eunice Browning Heeren; brothers, Lynwood Browning and wife Dolores, and Raymond Browning; sister-in-law, Devilla Browning; seven nieces, four nephews and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Marjorie Teekel Browning; and a brother, J.W. Browning. Friends and family were welcomed to his visitation at Greenoaks Funeral Home in Baton Rouge on Sunday, Oct. 24, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation resumes at the funeral home Monday from 10 a.m. until services at noon, conducted by Minister Richard Sandberg. Interment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brian Browning, Lee Browning, Steve Easley, John Browning, Eric Relle and Brian Anderson. Honorary pallbearers are Keith Pierce, Paul Allen. Bobby Browning and Maurice Browning. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the wonderful staff at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice for their loving care in Harold's last days. The family would also like to thank Mrs. Joyce Arnold at The Guest House for her years of kindness and care.
