

Harold Richard "Buddy" Gibson Jr. passed away Friday, April 30, 2010, peacefully at his home in Prairieville. Born April 19, 1938, he just made his 72nd birthday which was celebrated at his home. He was the retired owner of Gibson Credit Inc. Buddy had been in the finance industry for the past 45 years. He served as past president of the Lenders Exchange and served many years on the board of the Louisiana Independent Finance Association. He was known for his generosity in helping his customers in the time of need. His passion in life was his family and cooking. Buddy was an avid LSU fan and in college played in the LSU Band. He took great pride in his children's and grandchildren's activities. To them he was their "PaPa." He was also a member of Broadmoor United Methodist Church. Visitation at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Monday, May 3, from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at noon. Burial will be private in Greenoaks Memorial Park. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Sandraleigh "Sandy" Congor; and his faithful companion, his little dog, Sugar. Buddy and Sandy would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary June 4. He is also survived by his four children, daughter, Rawndy Pitalo and her husband, Randy, and sons, Damon, Courtleigh, and Logan and his wife, Stacey. He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren, Anthony Pitalo and his wife, Lindsey Halbert Gibson and their two children, Gibson and Eden, Britany Pitalo, Ashton, Cameron and Miranda Gibson, Terah Price and her husband, Mike and their children, Aiden and Alexa, Richard and Jessica Rae Gibson and Seth Gibson, Alyse and Alaina Gibson. Also survived by sisters and brothers-in-law, Wanesse and Jeff Carpenter, Helen and Sid Cavin, Mary and Roy Reidlinger, and Pat and Darryl Cheek; sister-in-law, Sherrie Congor Guidry; and nieces, Stacy and Carey. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Richard Gibson Sr. and Eula Mae Gibson; a brother, Don Gibson; niece, Kerri Reidlinger; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Logan and Margaret Congor. Harold is also survived by his dear friends, Gus Gonzales and Thomas P. Baudry, who were more like brothers to him. Words cannot express how deeply he was loved and will be missed. The family wishes to express their appreciation to all his caregivers from Clarity Hospice and Home Instead, especially nurses Tracy and Felecia, who fell in love with him and treated him with the utmost dignity. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's and Dementia foundations of Baton Rouge.
