
Harry Jacob "Jake" Geiss III, 57, of Prairieville, passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2013. He was born on October 12, 1955, in Biloxi, MS. He graduated from high school in Gulfport, MS, earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Southern Mississippi and a Juris Doctor from Southern University, Baton Rouge. He practiced law in Baton Rouge and Houma, LA, and was a partner in several entrepreneurial businesses. Jake was an avid golf player, never missed a Saints game, and cherished his time spent cooking and gardening with his wife and playing with his grandchildren. He will be remembered for his brilliant mind, sharp wit, and, most of all, his generous heart. Jake was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Jacob Geiss, Jr. and Barbara Spinks Geiss. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Patricia Trahan Geiss; daughters and sons-in-law, April and Sam King, of Baton Rouge, Kristin Geiss and Jason Hall, of Arlington, VA, Candice and Erich Ortlieb, of Baton Rouge, and Erica Geiss, of Baton Rouge; grandchildren, Benjamin, Sarah, and Rebecca, all of Baton Rouge; brother, Eric Geiss, of Gulfport, MS; and sisters, Bobbisue Backers, of Honolulu, HI, and Cheryl Keebler, of Gautier, MS. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 2, 2013, at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd. Visitation begins at 12 noon, with a recitation of the rosary at 1:30 p.m. The family would like to thank the ER/ICU doctors and staff at the Baton Rouge General - Bluebonnet for their support and care.
