

Haywood Glenn Bass, of Baton Rouge, LA, aged 96, passed peacefully in his home to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on March 19, 2026. On the previous evening, he had joyfully learned the good news of the birth his first great grandchild.
Haywood was born in Winnfield, Louisiana to the late Burney and Serena Bass on December 6, 1929.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Stan Bass; sister, Lesker Bass Bates; and his former wife and mother of his children, Fran Bass Copes.
The surviving loved ones include his son and daughter-in-law, Billy (Bill) and Rachel Bass; daughter, Elizabeth Bass Cunningham; and his significant other of 39 years, Barbara Beckmann. He also leaves behind four grandchildren, Joshua Bass, Charity Bass Early and husband, Connor Early, Nathaniel Bass, and Grace Bass; and his great grandson, Peter Early.
Haywood graduated from Winnfield High School and later joined the US Army where he was a specialist in radio frequency electronics. Following his army service, he worked for Aero Service Corporation mapping the underground structure of the Gulf of Mexico and southern United States from special aircraft towing an airborne magnetometer flying for hours at 500 feet over the earth.
One of Haywood’s proudest accomplishments was building and operating his own business, Bass Electronics Inc. from 1963 until 2012 when his son Bill Bass continued the legacy by obtaining ownership.
Haywood was a great proponent of higher education and funded college for his two children, his 4 grandchildren and partial funding for 30 children through his home church in Winnfield La. He believed education played a significant role in building a better future for everyone.
Together he and Barbara enjoyed traveling to all seven continents.
He enjoyed all his friends of Broadmoor Presbyterian Church over the last 62 years where he was an Elder and Sunday school teacher for many years.
Visitation will be held at Broadmoor Presbyterian Church, 9340 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA, on April 13, 2026 from 10-11 am, followed by the Funeral Service at 11 am.
