Hazel DeMent "Dugan" Newman

Hazel DeMent “Dugan” Newman, age 88 and a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away at her home on Thursday, September 1, 2022. She was a longtime member of Hosanna First Assembly of God. She is survived by her three sons and their spouses: Samuel Marvin Newman, Jr. and wife Ruth, Charles Daryl Newman and wife Jocelyne, and James Gary Newman, Sr. and wife Molly; six grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, H.H. “Spud” DeMent; and sister, Alpha Mae DeMent Raborn. She is preceded in death by her husband, Samuel M. Newman, Sr.; her parents, Ephraim and Garnet DeMent; a brother, Leon DeMent; and a sister, Nelwyn DeMent Courtney. Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd, from 10am until funeral service at 11am, conducted by Pastor Don Williams. Burial will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
