Helen Hypes Headlee died August 1, 2026. She was born in Ansted, W. Virginia to her parents William and Katherine Hypes on August 20, 1939. She is preceded in death by her daughter Mary Elizabeth Gugich as well as son-in-law Nathan Ford Brown.
Helen was a graduate of LSU with a masters in science education and taught science at the LSU Laboratory School for over twenty years.
She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother to all those she left behind.
She is survived by her husband Ross Headlee, her sons George William Gugich, John Michael Gugich, and daughter Karen Rose Gugich, and son-in-law Steven Babcock. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren Ilana Gugich, Nolan Babcock, George Edward Gugich, Milese Gugich, Benjamin Gugich, Catherine Gugich, and Addison Gugich.
The family plans to gather privately for a celebration of Helen’s life at a later date.
