

Helen Mae Coates McKenzie, a native and resident of Baton Rouge, passed away on Saturday September 19, 2015 at Ochsner Medical Center of Baton Rouge only two weeks shy of her 91st birthday. Helen was the former co-owner of Mac’s Body & Fender Works. She also was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse. During her career, she worked at Baton Rouge General Mid-City and Community Blood Center. She will always be fondly remembered for her contagious laugh, huge smile and fried eggplant.
She was preceded in death by her husband Walter F. McKenzie, Sr., her parents, a step-daughter Margaret M. Cherry, five sisters and one brother.
Those left to cherish her memories are her son Walter F. McKenzie, Jr. and wife Adrienne of Dallas TX. Her daughter Carolyn M. Winstead and husband Warren of Central. Grandchildren Laura M. Jones and husband Kevin of Corinth, TX, Jennifer M. Collinsworth and husband Ryan of Flower Mound, TX, Loren W. Bozeman of Denham Springs and Tisha W. Gibson of Central. Great grandchildren; Chad, Sarah and Lyndsey Jones, Drew Hilliard, Darrian and Madelyn Bozeman, Cayden & Brody Gibson, Nikol Edelman and numerous nieces and nephews who were very special to her.
Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation which will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Monday September 21, 2015 from 5pm-9pm.Visitation will resume on Tuesday September 22, 2015 from 11am until funeral service 2pm at Greenoaks Funeral Home . Entombment in Greenoaks Memorial Park Mausoleum.
