Henry Anthony Faber Jr. died unexpectedly in his home on January 27, 2018. Henry was born at home on December 23, 1939. The doctor was paid with a bushel of cucumbers grown on the small farm on which Henry grew up in Hammond, Louisiana. After graduating from Hammond High and attending Southeastern University, Henry enlisted in the Air Force. A great honor of Henry’s life was serving in Air Force Squadron 526. He remained lifelong friends with his squadron and looked forward to reunions. Henry married his love, Connie McKneely Faber and they celebrated their 52nd anniversary on January 15th. For over 40 years Henry enjoyed and took pride in managing City Credit Corporation in Baton Rouge, where he was admired and beloved by employees and customers. Henry was a man of deep and abiding faith whose kindness and authenticity was apparent to everyone who met him. In the 1980's he opened his home to troubled youths and led by example, without judgement. Henry took pleasure in life’s small things and loved history, travel, the library, sitting by the lake and endless pots of Community Coffee. More than anything, Henry loved and devoted himself to his wife, children and his grandchildren, who were his sun, moon and stars. They will miss him every day that passes, and take comfort in knowing that the world is a better place because of him. Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Faber Sr. and Juanita Hinson Faber. He is survived by his sisters Shirley Flanagan and Linda Stevens of Hammond; his wife, Connie Faber of Greenwell Springs; daughter Carrie Faber-Cohen and husband Oren Cohen of Durham, North Carolina; son Brandt Faber and wife Tracy of Baton Rouge; and son Jason Faber and wife Jennifer of Greenwell Springs. He is also survived by adored grandchildren Brittany Mays of Baton Rouge, Brennan Faber of Baton Rouge, and Jacob and Jill Faber of Greenwell Springs; step grandchildren Josh, Jesse and Jessica Horton of Denham Springs; and great grand children Justin, Lycan and Julian. Services will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home in Baton Rouge on Friday the 2nd of February. Visitation is 10 am - 12 pm with the service beginning at noon. Interment will be at Louisiana National cemetery at 2:30 pm in Zachary. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to The Council on Aging, Journey Church of Greenwell Springs Building Fund or take your dad to lunch.
