
A resident of Baton Rouge since 1953 and a native of Shreveport, Dr. Henry K. Miller passed away Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2008, at his home. He graduated from Tulane University with a bachelor's degree in 1943 and from the LSU School of Medicine, Class of 1946. Dr. Miller was an original founder of Woman's Hospital and partly responsible for the development of Episcopal High School, having been one of the original land donors, and served on both boards of directors for many years. He was also a charter member of the board of directors of the Hospital Albert Schweitzer in Deschaplles, Haiti, from 1952 to 1997. Dr. Miller was board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1955 and served as a member of the American Medical Association, Southern Medical Association, American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Louisiana State Medical Society, East Baton Rouge Parish Medical Society, American College of Surgeons and Central Association OB-GYN Emeritus. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps as a captain in the Army occupation of Japan from July 1946 until November 1949. His wife of 53 years, Katherine LaCour Miller, preceded him in death in 1997. He is survived by two sons and a daughter, Henry K. "Chick" Miller Jr. and Katherine Miller Owens, both of Savannah, Ga., and Ovide L. Miller, of St Francisville; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He practiced medicine for 53 years and maintained an active practice in obstetrics-gynecology in Baton Rouge from 1953 until his retirement in 2000. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., on Friday, Oct. 31, from 9 a.m. to noon. Memorial service at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, Innis, on Friday at 2 p.m., conducted by the Right Rev. Jim Coleman. Interment in the church cemetery. Preceded in death by his parents, Henry Hollis Miller and Grace Robertson Miller; and a sister and two brothers. He was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church.
