Herbert Alfred Graf, 94, died Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009, at his residence in St. Gabriel. He was born Sept. 10, 1915, in New Orleans, and was a retired legal editor. Mr. Graf graduated from Tulane University with a bachelor's degree in 1937 and a law degree in 1939. While at Tulane, he won the SEC Bantamweight Championship in 1938 and was a member of the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity. Mr. Graf served in the Merchant Marines during World War II. Visitation at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, St. Gabriel, on Wednesday, Dec. 2, from 11 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. Entombment in St. Gabriel Church Mausoleum under the direction of Rabenhorst Funeral Home. Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Cecelia Hoffman Graf, of St. Gabriel; brother, Bickford C. Graf, of New Orleans; son, William E. Graf, of Cypress, Texas; and three grandchildren, Cecelia Louise Graf, Eugenie Victoria Graf and Elizabeth Lee Graf. Preceded in death by his son, Herbert Roy Graf II.
