Herman N. Scallan, a native of Pineville and resident of Baton Rouge, passed away Friday, July 11, 2014 at the age of 78. Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 11000 Florida Blvd on Monday, July 14, 2014 from 5pm until 9pm. Visitation will be at St. Louis King of France Catholic Church on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 from 10am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11am officiated by Rev. Jack Nutter. Burial will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. Survived by his wife, Mary Scallan, one daughter Vickie S. Rhorer, son, Mike Scallan, six grandchildren, Jessica, Kay, Michael and Hadley Scallan and Andrew and Mary Lynn Rhorer; two great grandchildren, Gavin Smith and Rowen Wright; and a sister, Marie Lloyd. Preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Scallan, a brother, Richard Scallan, parents Herman and Hazel Scallan, son-in-law, Ted Rhorer and daughter-in-law, Lacy Scallan. Herman was president of the St. Louis King of France Church Ushers Society, charter member and Past Grand Knight of the Rev. Maynard Hurst Knights of Columbus, chaplain of the American Legion Post 38, and a member of the Navy Club and the U.S.S. Baton Rouge Submarine Club.
