

Died on Sunday, January 11, 2015, at the age of 85 after a lengthy illness with Alzheimer's. She was born on February 10, 1929 to parents Delmar Joseph and Hettie Jean Babin. On February 11, 1950 she married her high school sweetheart, the love of her life, Robert M. "Bobby" Tuminello, Sr. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved to dance, travel, and play cards and entertain. She was a longtime member of Our Lady of Mercy Parish where she served in various roles in the Home and School Association and was also a member of the OLOM Altar Society. A 1945 graduate of St. Joseph's Academy, she also attended LSU where she was a member of the LSU Marching Band. She and Bobby were avid campers and long-time members of the Cruisin' Cajun organization. Hettie was a member of the tap dancing group "Jammin' Grannies," a group that originally began for exercise purposes and later branched out to performing at festivals, dance recitals and entertainment for nursing home residents. She was most happy with a house full of people. She is survived by daughter, Debra Tuminello Landry and husband, Carl Duke Landry; and son, Rob Tuminello, Jr. and wife Betz Guice Tuminello; grandchildren, Kelly LaBorde Barnes and husband Kevin Barnes, Bridget LaBorde Orton and husband Kyle Orton, Jeffrey Mark Tuminello, and Brett Tuminello and wife Mandy Olexy Tuminello; great-grandchildren, Brayden Paul and Aubrey Alyce Barnes, Olivia Taylor Orton, and Adley Kate Tuminello; also, step-granddaughters, Ali Conerly and husband J. R., Rachel Mangin and husband Ryan, and Lily Guice. Visitation will be on Thursday, January 15th, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 445 Marquette Avenue, Baton Rouge, Louisiana from 9:00 AM until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, 4045 North Street, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Pallbearers will be Kevin Barnes, Brayden Barnes, Kyle Orton, Jeffrey Tuminello, Brett Tuminello, and Carl Duke Landry. Memorial donations in the name of Hettie Jean Tuminello may be made to The Alzheimer's Association of Baton Rouge and St. Joseph's Academy. The family would like to extend thanks to the staff at St. Clare Manor and Hospice of Baton Rouge.
