Howard served in the Army National Guard and spent a year and seven months as a combat engineer in Vietnam. Following his service, he owned and operated a disaster restoration business in Baton Rouge for 42 years. In retirement, he pursued his love of nature, and he and Donnie built a home in southeastern British Columbia, where they spent many years embracing the mountain lifestyle.
Howard is survived by his children, Renee Badon, Kevin Badon, and Noel Richard; and his grandchildren, Cade Badon and Ashley Richard. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 49 years, Donnie Badon; his son-in-law, Stephen Richard; his brother, Glynn Badon; and his parents, Mamie Lee and Ellzey Badon.
Howard will be remembered for his natural gift for making lifelong friendships.
The family offers heartfelt gratitude to his caregivers, Dianna, Judy, Kim, Michael, Pam, and many others for their support and compassion.
Visitation will be held Friday, November 13, 2026, at 10:30 AM, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM at Grace Baptist Church, 630 Richland Avenue, Baton Rouge, LA 70806. Interment will follow at 2:00 PM at Greenoaks Memorial Park, 9595 Florida Boulevard, Baton Rouge, LA 70815.
