“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13 Hunter Brent Sledge, born in Baton Rouge and raised in Watson, Louisiana passed away on June 9, 2021 at the age of 33. Hunter leaves behind to cherish his memory; his mother, Rhonda Faye Smith; father and step-mother, Gary and Denise Sledge; daughter, Hadley Brynn Hebert; sisters, Krystale Sledge (Ashley), Tricia Drago (Scott), and Tiffaney Morrison (Ash); grandmother, Barbara Walters; mother of his daughter, Andrea Megan Hebert; and his nieces and nephews, Carson Matheney, Cayden Collins, Alexis and Abigail Morrison, and Gabe and Nick Drago. Further, Hunter leaves behind uncles, Leon “Buck” Smith, Dr. Danny Ray Smith and Terry Joe Smith; aunts, Natalie Sledge King and Dawn Saxton; and numerous cousins and extended family. Hunter is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ray and Marjorie Smith; and his paternal grandparents, Sara Bourgeois, David Sledge and Bob Walters. Hunter was a “man’s man” who loved to fish and hunt like his father, and he lived his life as a Christian man who was on fire for God. He touched every soul he met with his passion for Christ, and even when things weren’t going in his favor and life got tough, his faith never wavered. He loved his momma more than words can say and he was the true definition of a “momma’s boy”. Hunter was very handsome, inwardly beautiful, intelligent, gregarious, hilarious, a best friend to all, an incredible dancer, and sensitive to a fault. Hunter had a innate ability to never meet a stranger, making a friend for life. Hunter’s eyes shined like sapphire diamonds to match his beautiful heart of gold, and he will truly be missed by all who loved him. We can all rest easy being assured that Hunter is finally home and walking with his Lord and Savior. The family invites family and friends to the memorial celebrating life in Christ that will be held at Healing Place Church-Annex, Highland Road Campus on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 from 10 a.m. until memorial service at 10:30 a.m. Family and friends are invited to visit www.greenoaksfunerals.com to leave condolences and share memories with Hunter’s family. John 15:1-8, states, “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.”

I did not know Hunter but I know his dad, aunts and grandmother, Barbara. From his picture I can see why everybody said how handsome he was! It is so obvious that Hunter knew our Lord and that is the most important fact about his life! Praise God Hunter is with his savior tonight! My prayers are with all his family for God to give them peace and comfort! I love his dad, Gary like my own!

I am saddened to hear of Hunter's passing. We just spoke briefly a few weeks ago.
Hunter had the biggest heart and incredible love for the Lord that I have never witnessed in someone our age.
There is no doubt in my mind he's with our Heavenly Father walking the beautiful streets of gold and probably busting out some of his fancy dance moves!

My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time.

I am so sorry for your loss. I am grateful to have known him! I have so many memories of him dancing like Michael Jackson, playing put out at Westside, tagging along to all of my basketball tournaments, and his sweet smile. I am resting in the fact that he is in the presence of Jesus and we will see him again!
