

A loving mother and grandmother passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at the age of 88, at the Carpenter House. She was a native of Smoke Bend and resident of Baton Rouge/Geismar. She was a 1943 graduate of Donaldsonville High School. She retired from South Central Bell after 40 years of service as a supervisor. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters and the Telephone Pioneers of America. She is survived by her best friend and caretaker, Geneva “Vickie” Vickers; daughter, Mary Ann Marino DeMont; sons, Lawrence A Marino Sr, Russell R Marino Sr, Joseph M Marino Jr, Thomas W Marino, and John R Marino; sisters, Una Caballero, and Mercedes “Decy” Ascosta; 17 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Joseph M Marino Sr; parents, Oscar, and Irma Landry Lanoix; sisters, Norma Lanoix, Ella “Laloot” Denoux, Florence “Totie” Denoux; and brothers, Elmo Lanoix, Oscar “ Kakie” Lanoix, Earl “Chumpo” Lanoix, and Landry “Benny” Lanoix. Visitation will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church 15208 Hwy 73 Prairieville, LA 70769. on Friday, March 13, 2015, from 10 AM until Catholic Mass at 12:30 PM conducted by Father Jerry Martin. Interment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Lee Falcon, Randy Lanoix, Kevin Marino, Russell Marino Jr, Joseph “Michael” Marino III, and Tommy H Demont Jr. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to The Carpenter House at St. Joseph Hospice.
