
He was born July 28, 1929, in Falls River, New York to W. C. Grosskopf Sr. and Meriem E. Kells. He passed away Thursday, April 5, 2012 at 11:20 a.m. Bill was married to his first wife Juanita for 40 years. At his death, he had been married to Jo D'Antoni-Grosskopf for 13 years. He was survived by a son, David A. Grosskopf and wife Barbara; daughter, Suanne Grosskopf; two stepsons, Greg D'Antoni and wife Jennifer, Michael D'Antoni and wife Rhonda; 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, W. C. Sr. and Meriem E. Kells Grosskopf; a sister, Evelyn Randolph; and an infant daughter. Bill was a 20-year veteran retired from the U.S. Air Force. He served in the Korean War as an aircraft mechanic on board Navy carries. He also served in a weather squadron in the Gulf of Mexico as a specialist in seismology, after retiring from the U. S. Air Force in 1968. He moved to Garland, Texas, where worked for TeledyneGeotech in seismology, building and installing seismographic detectors and monitors in many of the world's trouble spots. He also built a seismograph that was used in the Apollo moon landing in 1969. Bill was a much loved volunteer at Woman's Hospital for 14 years. He never met a stranger and found joy in his life, whatever the circumstances. Bill will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the doctors and the wonderful nurses at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center and also the staff at The Carpenter House.
