J D Wells of Baton Rouge, passed away at his residence on February 12, 2021 at the age of 98. J D was born January 26, 1923 in Frost, Louisiana. He retired from the Advocate after 40 years of employment with the newspaper. J D had a green thumb when it came to his vegetable gardens and fruit trees. He frequently had his photo in the paper showing off some of his extraordinary produce. He dearly loved having his grandchildren work in the garden at his side. He is survived by his son, David Wells; daughter, Susan Thorne (Bill); and daughter Diana Hutson (Henry); and six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Wells. He was a Deacon and charter member of Stevendale Baptist Church. Visitation will be Thursday, February 18, 2021 at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be on Friday at Stevendale Baptist Church in Baton Rouge at 11:00 a.m. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
